Edgewatch. Security Intelligence

What is Edgewatch?

Edgewatch is an Attack Surface Management Platform that assists companies in discovering, monitoring, and analyzing devices accessible from the Internet to find their weaknesses.

Enterprises use Edgewatch to track their supply chain across the globe and understand their network attack surfaces. Security researchers use it to discover new threats and assess their global impact. For more information please visit https://edgewatch.com/platform.

What is Edgewatch's in-depth security scan?

If you're here, it means that we've performed one or more in-depth security scans on your sites. Please be aware that our site-specific in-depth security scans are performed only upon user request. One of our users has registered your server as an asset.

If you own the server, are responsible for the security of the infrastructure, and did not request this assessment, or are experiencing any disruptions, please contact Edgewatch immediately at https://support.edgewatch.com.

I don't own the server; I'm on shared hosting and have not requested any scan.

Please note that the security chain is only as strong as its weakest link. If you are on a shared resource, another tenant may be concerned about their neighbors and might perform a security assessment on the entire server. You can access more information or obtain your own report by registering for free on our platform at Edgewatch.

Why have I encountered Edgewatch in my logs previously?

EdgeWatch identifies assets related to our customers through comprehensive Internet-wide scanning, which is a part of our EdgeWatch Explorer Project. We maintain an up-to-date, global record of internet-connected devices, and regularly update this information. In conducting these scans, we initiate a limited number of non-intrusive connection attempts to every IPv4 and IPv6 address daily. Upon detecting a device configured to accept connections, we engage in protocol handshakes to gather insights into the active services.

At EdgeWatch Explorer Projectscans we strictly avoid any actions that would bypass security protocols, exploit vulnerabilities, or access services not intended for public interaction. Our practices are aligned with community standards to ensure minimal disruption to remote networks. Rest assured, the data we collect consists solely of information that is already publicly accessible to anyone connecting to a given IP address and port.

Edgewatch Explorer data is sometimes utilized by researchers and network administrators to detect security issues and alert operators of vulnerable systems. This kind of scans can be blocked, but you might miss these critical security notifications.

Opting out of Edgewatch in-depth security scans

Our in-depth security scans are strictly upon user request and are not subject to opt-out. They are triggered by someone claiming rights over the resource. If you own the server or are in charge of the security of the infrastructure and did not request this assessment, or are experiencing any disruptions, please contact Edgewatch immediately at support.edgewatch.com to inquire who ordered the scan.
